Technology Standards
The new standards stress student creativity, collaboration, and become active participants in their own learning far more than the old standards. The new standards discuss using technology to increase global awareness and communication.
The old standards discuss understanding the basic forms of technology and how to use them whereas the new standards expect students and teachers to be competent in this area and expect them to complete higher level tasks.
Similarities are evaluating students through technology and increasing productivity through technology. Another similarity is to promote and model expected technological behavior. Discussing the importance of ethical behavior when using technology is another similarity I noticed. Both sets of standards discuss in depth the importance of modeling lifelong learning.
In ten years the standards will be even further developed and expect even more out of students and teachers. This could include having students develop technological based activities for their peers to use.

Google Docs Reflection
I feel Google Docs could be extremely beneficial for our Math PLC's at North HS. One way they would benefit our PLC's is when we create assessments such as tests, quizzes, or 10-in-10s. Multiple teachers could be editing the assessment simultaneously during our meeting. For example Mr. Joe could be improving question 2 on solving equations while Mrs. Mary is improving question 3 on graphing lines. We also wouldn't have to worry about the constant saving and sending and saving and sending again back and forth where you have to worry if you even have the most updated version of the assessment.
As far as limitations, I am pretty confident that are administration won't let us use Google Docs with the students. I could discuss with the administration why they don't allow it to gain a better understanding. Following this discussion I could research the Pro's, push those, and then respond to their concerns by showing them the positives and that it can be safe for student's when used properly.
